Weekend at London

Assalamu'alaikum,

This time, two committee representatives were sent to London to attend the Inaugural Leaders' Conference! The vice-president and the secretary attended the event.

The conference was held at the senate library in UCL. The purpose of the conference was for society leaders to raise current issues and concerns that students may have about future employment or anything related to employment. The purpose of the conference was not, however, to propose solutions to problems then and there. Solutions to the issues raised generally require time for an effect to be seen. The Brunei High Commissioner and other representatives from different government sectors were present during that time.

Of course it was mentally exhausting to attend this conference, what with most of the society leaders arrived in london at midnight. Thankfully breakfast and lunch were served, so that makes up for the mental exhaustion :D hahahahaha!

These were taken before the event started, while we were served light food...for most us, that would be breakfast. HAHAHAHA!

Greeting the Brunei High Commissioner as he arrived. Look at our vice-president. The only one with a songkok. Biasa, BruYork kaliah

Stating the event with a prayer in hopes of getting Allah's blessing. Our representatives' seats! 'Twas awesome. Much sakai

This is what the representatives look like, 30 minutes in the conference. HAHAHAHAHAHA! That epic bored face doe XD

This is what the conference room looks like from our representative's view. The panelists on the left side of the picture. It looks very formal, but it was quite informal; we can speak up whenever we want  (basically) and we can speak in English, Malay, or just normal Brunei slang.

These were taken after the conference ended. It was nice to see familiar faces :)

Well, that's how the Saturday worked out for our representatives. Whether it was fun or not depends on whether or not there were a lot of exciting people or just people you used to know. Sort of became a catch-up session for some them I guess :)

Sampai sini saja,

XOXO

The day of the tournament

Assalamu'alaikum!

On 22nd November, BrueniYork participated in the mini Dodgeball and Frisbee competition hosted by Brusheff. The girls participated in the Dodgeball tournament whereas the boys formed a union with the Bruhull and participated in the Frisbee tournament. The girls in particular had fun (not really sure about the boys, lol). Although both teams didn't win or even got top three, the point was to have fun since we didn't practise at all. XD So to all the BruYork members who participated, I hope that the money was worth it for you guys. Hopefully we'll participate again next year, Aamin!

So the secretary forgot to bring her camera again (this girl ah... =.=). Thankfully one of two suporters, Zati took pictures of the team in action. Some pictures were also taken by our increasingly reliable camerawoman, the president!

The tournament started off with Frisbee tournament, with HullYork Team vs BruNotts! It must be very nerve-wrecking to play the first match! >.< Sadly, the difference in frisbee skills (if that's what you'd call it) was so huge but the guys' performance did improve with each game. Proud of you guys nonetheless!

These two pictures were taken before the girls played their game. Well before their game, earlier on the day. HAHAHAHAHA! The girls also didn't win but I have to admit that we did a good job in some games :) Go Team! Sentiasa semangat!

At the train station, waiting for the train going back to York, after having dinner at Efes (sp?)

Group photo!

Because we could afford a better background than the previous group photo, we decided to take another one. HAHAHAHAHA!

For most of us, it has been a while since we exercised, so the next three days, we had muscle aches and sores. It was very painful. LOL! Some of us even experience muscle pain right after the games, that's the effect of not exercising for two years. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! A lesson to be learnt. Lol.

Tahlil

Assalamu'alaikum semua!

Syukur Alhamdullillah, finally found some time to update this blog. Sorry for being MIA!

Continuing from the last event posted, here's the post for the event after Ma'al Hijrah. We had a tahlil event (the reason shall not be disclosed).

The venue this time is not Hull Road. A change of scenery for once :) The venue was in Study Pod 1 in Heslington East! Woot woot! So to most of us, who rarely have any business in the east campus, that was their first time in a study pod. Pretty cool huh? It's literally like modern version of 'Kampong Ayer'. Which is pretty awesome.

Since the secretary didn't bring her camera (again =.=) the only photos available from the event are those taken by our president (thank you!)

Notice the girls at the back. Trololololol. And look at our treasurer! epic XD HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Way to go Jas

And finally, a decent picture of everyone who attended

We really appreciate our Malaysian friends who came to the tahlil event. Thank you so much you guys! *kissus kissus*

XOXO

Sambutan Awal Tahun Hijrah

Assalamu'alaikum everyone!

Back with news/story of our Sambutan Awal Tahun Hijrah. Finally able to set aside time to post this :(

Our sambutan was held at Hull Road on Friday, 24th October. The majlis started with bacaan doa, followed by sembahyang Maghrib berjemaah. Then bacaan Surah Yaasin and then sembahyang isya' berjemaah. Of course after all that, it's dinner time. Woot woot!

Apologies! The secretary did not take pictures of the Bruneians during the bacaan doa or when they were reading Surah Yaasin. But during that time, look at the two right feet owned by two committee members. Guess who? XD

The Bruneians guys in York. Macam tangga kamu ah (You guys are like stairs). HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Missing Jason in the picture :(

The guys of Brunei York Society! All five are here now :)

Awww! them cuties :3

Patriotic President XD

Group photo! Missing our religious officer though! :( But thanks to her, we were able to do a group photo! so thank you! :D

LOVE this picture! You three chemists are funny XD I shall anticipate more of these sort of pictures XD

:) In action

Esehmen! Our religious officer looking fine XD

Ninja >:)

Everyone wanted to play games. Guess you guys enjoyed the games during Hari Raya Haji :D. So here are pictures of us playing a game of chinese whispers :)

Here we played a modified chinese whispers; it's a drawing relay where the person at the very end had to guess what the drawing is. It's funny to watch all the changes that took place! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! XD

After the games were over, it's back to the usual social :)

The last picture for the day :)

Yay! Thankfully this time I can fit a lot of pictures all at once. Although personally I don't mind making a part two. LOL. Guess that's it. Sorry, there were no pictures of food. We had profiteroles. Yum! And Insya Allah, for the next event, which is Brunei Night/Game Night, I'll try to post on the blog as soon as I can. :)

XOXO
